January is always a hard month if all you want to do is play in your garden. It's cold and exceptionally rainy this year. But this year is different! This is the year we finally build our greenhouse. We got started right after Christmas and hope to be complete by February 1st. Just in time to start the spring seedlings anywhere other than our kitchen!!! Here are a few picture updates of our progress!
Our greenhouse will serve two purposes. We are using the same footprint as the produce stand but doubling it. So one half (equal to the produce stand footprint) will be greenhouse. The second half will be open walled for storing tractor implements. This is something we desperately need as well. Our carport currently meets this need and it will be nice to get our carport back!
We started several years ago by asking friends to save us windows if they ever replace theirs. And boy, did our friends come through! We have plenty of windows for this project and I am sure we will have some left.
We started by burning down our main brush pile. It's the perfect location for our Greenhouse/Storage Building.
Next we set a bunch of posts. It helps to have all the farmhands around for any building project!
We then started framing in the roof areas, which will take quite a bit of time.
Check back next week to see how far we are! Have a great week!
